"I Took the Blue Pill", to the tune of "Margaritaville"
by AlmostAtheist inthis only makes sense if you're familiar with the red pill/blue pill decision faced in the movie "the matrix".
if you aren't familiar with it, and don't mind finding out without watching the movie, you can read about it here: http://www.arrod.co.uk/essays/matrix.php.
(i'd just tell you, but i don't want to spoil it for you if you'd rather see the movie first.).

What Pushed You Out The Door Of The Watchtower?
by minimus infor me, it was realizing that nearly every prophecy or commentary on a scriptural passage has changed.
througout the years, it's been new light, old light and even blinking light.

Hi FullOfDoubtNow
I'm glad you're free of the WTBTS. That's wonderful. If the temptation arises to check out some other group, resist it. Joining herds never works out, unless you enjoy someone else doing your thinking for you, and imitating the herd makes you feel good. Obviously, that's not true in your case or you wouldn't be here.
Might I suggest this website to you? http://www.lulu.com/content/167431

My wife and I were good friends for a few years with a Wiccan couple. We went to a few Rituals on Wiccan holy days. I think it would have been a lot more fun if I hadn't been in my late thirties
at the time. Everyone was skyclad (including my wife and I), which was definitely interesting and erotic. The rituals themselves were a real panic though. It was hard to keep from laughing as we sang and chanted and shouted and waved bushes about as we marched around a fire. The men got hard-ons ogling the women, and the women seemed to be comparing the equipment of each male.
At the first Ritual we participated in, I had to get down on my knees before a fabulously gorgeous young blonde about twenty-five while she performed some sort of mumbo jumbo for me. I can't recall what it was for. I do recall my wife and I catching each others eye and an invisible smirk passing between us. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Our friends wound up divorcing and moving far away. Sad but for the best. -

beliefs I thought were unique to JWs because they had holy spirit
by demeter inthis forum rocks.
i like it very much.. i want to talk about something that i have noticed since leaving the jws.. i thought the ideas about the millenium, armeggedon, invisibility of christ's presence, etc were inspired as truths given only to the anointed to pass on to the faithful witnesses.
the parousia idea was an idea borrowed from a preacher named miller when one of his apocalyptic prophecies failed to come true.

Hey Cygnus!
It's Nisan 15? Well, there you go. I have an excuse. I'm 52 and have been gone from the Witnesses for thirty-three years. Details get a bit foggy here and there. From reading this site my mind is being refreshed as to a lot of the details, which is helpful in writing my book about my JW experiences.
It isn't an "I Left the JW's and Found Jesus, Amen" book. Thought that certainly happened. It's way more rollicking than that.
Have a grand day! -

Hello to all
by mariposa inhi.. i've been meaning to introduce myself at some point in time when i had enough balls to ask some of the questions i've been thinking for the past couple of months.
however, i've had a horredous day and now just want to talk to anyone.... my hubbys asleep, gotta work tomorrow again...get to spend all day just me and the baby alone again.
i'm petsitting for the cutest dog who will not stop whining and clawing at the door every 15 minutes.

Greetings mariposa
I'm very sorry to read of the loss of your cat. I worry about my two little dogs. They've gotten very old.
I have no magic words or quotations for you, just goodwill and a welcome.

Prayer??? Real or just something we fool ourselves with!
by free2beme ini was thinking about this today and i found a interesting thought in my mind that i thought would be worth considering here.
i should start off by saying that i do not think prayers to god are answered, as it is like making a call to a wrong number.
however, i do think you can fool yourself into thinking they are, in the following way.. let's say you pray over and over asking for this and that and that.

Satanus, hi!
You're right. Beliefs don't really play any part in it. It simply works because that's the way the universe is. I love the cat eyes icon you use. -

New Light! Invisible Armageddon!
by jstalin init is going to be announced that with all the anticipation for the coming of armageddon, we didnt notice the actual event.
thats right, it was an invisible armageddon.
if we take the 70 years of captivity, plus 1914, we get 1984. then we use the people equal hours rule and apply it to the 144,000, using division, and we get 6,000. then we use the hours equal years rule to divide 6,000 by 360 to get 16.66 additional years, add that to 1984, and we get the year 2000 for armageddon!

Hi Joannadandy
I recall being scandalized when I met a brother from Bethel who told me a lot of lifelong JW's in Noo Yawk would get their magazines, go to a donut shop, dump their magazines, and read the paper and eat donuts and sip coffee for a couple hours.
Okay, now if you're ready for some real scandal...when I was 18 and living in San Jose I would often go out into field service alone. When I did, I really pressed hard for magazine subscriptions. I did so because I liked keeping the money. I figured the householder didn't really want the magazines, they just wanted me to go away. So, by taking their money and pocketing it I was performing a community service. They never saw me again.
